Christmas Kisses series by Alison May

The start of November has me in a festive mood! No, I'm not sure why either but maybe the trips to the garden centre that are now swamped by tinsel and giant snowmen, and the Christmas gifts on display in various shops have taken their toll so now all i can think of is snow, Santa and Xmas stories!

And with this collection of 3 novellas from the wonderful Choc-Lit team, it was the perfect read to dip in and out of over a couple of afternoons!  All the stories feature various characters who are linked in some way, but with their own links to Christmas and how the power of a Christmas kiss can never be forgotten!

Holly's Christmas Kiss

Happy Holidays? Not for Michelle…
Holly Michelle Jolly hates Christmas and she has a good reason to. Apart from her ridiculously festive name which made her the brunt of jokes at school, tragic and unfortunate events have a habit of happening to her around the holiday season. And this year is no different.

After the flight to her once-in-a-lifetime holiday destination is cancelled, Michelle faces the prospect of a cold and lonely Christmas. That is, until she meets Sean Munro. Sean loves Christmas, and he wants to share the magic with Michelle.

With Sean’s help, can Michelle experience her first happy Christmas, or will their meeting just result in another year of memories that she’d rather forget?

Learn to love Christmas all over again with this fun romance that’s guaranteed to get you cracking out the Baileys and Quality Street early!

The first in the series is where we are introduced to Holly.  And with such a festive name you'd find it hard to believe that she hates Christmas with a passion! But she does, so her main thought for this year is to get away from it all with a fabulous trip to the Caribbean planned, after a particularly traumatic time for her.   But her best laid plans are no match for the weather, so with her holiday cancelled last minute she is wondering what to do with herself.  And that is when Sean appears in her life.  Sean is such a wonderful character that you can't help but instantly fall in love with his enthusiasm and attitude, and Holly finds it hard to say no to his request that she join him and his family for a Christmas getaway at their farm.  Sean just wants to show her that Christmas can be a fun time, and she soon finds herself learning to love Christmas all over again.

Really loved the characters involved in this story and it was lots of fun and quite sexy to read as well!  And despite the shortness of the story, the author manages to pack so much detail in that you really feel a connection with both characters.

Cora's Christmas Kiss

Can you expect a perfect Christmas after the year from hell?

Cora and Liam have both experienced horrible years that have led them to the same unlikely place – spending December working in the Grotto at Golding’s department store.

Under the cover of a Father Christmas fat suit and an extremely unflattering reindeer costume, they find comfort in sharing their tales of woe during their bleak staffroom lunch breaks.

But is their new-found friendship just for Christmas? Or have they created something deeper, something that could carry them through to a hopeful new year?

Another heart-warming Christmas novella from Alison May! Keep your eyes peeled for characters you may recognise from Alison’s previous novella, Holly’s Christmas Kiss

Second in the series, but can be read as a stand alone story, is where we get to follow Cora and her story.  We are introduced to her in HOllys' story, but we get to see a different side to her now as her life completely changes from one of luxury to dressing up as a reindeer in a local store for the Christmas period.  Working alongside her, as Father Christmas, is Liam who also has his own rather interesting story. Where Cora goes from riches to rags, Liam does the opposite, and it really is fascinating to see how they both cope with their lifestyle changes, but all done while they are dressed up and they find it much easier to open up to each other behind their disguises!

Love that they are bought together in such an unusual circumstances and it really makes for a fun look at how just when you think you have life figured out, then something comes along and completely changes your outlook!

Jessica's Christmas Kiss

Real Christmas miracles only ever happen in the movies – don’t they?

When Jessica was fifteen, she shared the perfect kiss with a mystery boy at a Christmas party. It might have only lasted a moment, and the boy might have disappeared shortly afterwards but, to Jessica, it was just a little bit magic.

Fourteen years later, and Jessica is faced with a less than magical Christmas after uncovering her husband’s secret affair. And, whilst she wouldn’t admit it, she sometimes finds herself thinking about that perfect Christmas kiss, back when her life still seemed full of hope and possibility.

But she never would have guessed that the boy she kissed in the kitchen all those years ago might still think about her too …

And the 3rd book in the series, is the story of Jessica and how Christmas affects her - in the past and present!  We get to glimpse back to her first kiss when she was 15 with a stranger at a party - to her it was perfect, if only she knew his real name and where he was!

That stranger, Lucas/Alan also savoured that christmas moment, but life has changed a lot for him in the 14 years since. None more so than the care his father requires round the clock following a car crash.  Lucas is a really wonderful character as he tries to hide his past, and make a new life for himself but he often finds it difficult to shake off his previous life - especially around Christmas time.

Jessica thought she was set up for life when she married Patrick but she soon discovers all is not as it seems, so that is when the past starts to play on her mind more and sometimes two people are just meant to be together and fate has a funny way of bringing them back into each others' life!

All 3 stories were so much fun to read and really put you in the festive feel good mood so I highly recommend checking them out if you're looking to add some Xmas sparkle to your reading pile!
