My Bookish Weekly Wrap Up - 2nd July 2022

Hello and Happy July!!  What will this month bring us weather wise I wonder?! And hopefully it will bring us lots of books and reading time!!

Speaking of which, I've had a good spell of reading this past week with 6 books finished, including 1 audiobook, so happy with that! Only 1 new addition to the NetGalley shelf too, and 1 arrival for review!!

Here's my look back!

Starting with my acquisition from Netgalley...

THE LIGHTHOUSE BOOKSHOP by SHARON GOSLING
publication date - August 2022

At the heart of a tiny community in a remote village just inland from the Aberdeenshire coast stands an unexpected lighthouse. Built two centuries ago by an eccentric landowner, it has become home to the only bookshop for miles around.

Rachel is an incomer to the village. She arrived five years ago and found a place she could call home. So when the owner of the Lighthouse Bookshop dies suddenly, she steps in to take care of the place, trying to help it survive the next stage of its life.

But when she discovers a secret in the lighthouse, long kept hidden, she realises there is more to the history of the place than she could ever imagine. Can she uncover the truth about the lighthouse’s first owner? And can she protect the secret history of the place?

And I received a copy of this to review from the publisher...

PSALMS FOR THE END OF THE WORLD by COLE HADDON
publication date - September 2022

It's 1962 and physics student Grace Pulansky believes she has met the man of her dreams, Robert Jones, while serving up slices of pecan pie at the local diner. But then the FBI shows up, with their fedoras and off-the-rack business suits, and accuses him of being a bomb-planting mass-murderer.

Finding herself on the run with Jones across America's Southwest, the discoveries awaiting Gracie will undermine everything she knows about the universe. Her story will reveal how scores of lives - an identity-swapping rock star, a mourning lover in ancient China, Nazi hunters in pursuit of a terrible secret, a crazed artist in pre-revolutionary France, an astronaut struggling with a turbulent interplanetary future, and many more - are interconnected across space and time by love, grief, and quantum entanglement.

Spanning continents, centuries, and dimensions, this exquisitely crafted and madly inventive novel - a triple-disk, concept-album of a book - is a profound yet propulsive enquiry into the nature of reality - the perfect immersive read for fans of David Mitchell, Emily St. John Mandel, Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood.

CURRENTLY READING

THE VERY SECRET SOCIETY OF IRREGULAR WITCHES by SANGU MANDANNA
